At 23:00 p.m. on August 9, Samsung officially launched its new flagship Galaxy note 9 in New York, as well as a new smart watch, the galaxy watch. At a press conference in China on August 15, Samsung officially confirmed that galaxy esimwatch will provide LTE version to support ESIM of Chinese operators, i.e. “one dual terminal” function.
Since only the BOC price and listing date of note9 were announced at the end of the China press conference, there was no news about when the galaxy watch would be sold, how much it would cost, and the detailed introduction of ESIM functions.
Recently, Samsung’s app store has launched a Samsung ESIM manager, which can be judged from the name and chart to manage the ESIM functions of smart watches. According to the screenshot, the application needs to be used in conjunction with the galaxy wearable app (i.e. the original Samsung gear). It can be basically determined that the application was built for the ESIM function of Samsung Galaxy watch.
It is worth mentioning that in the screenshot of the application, it is found that the ESIM of Samsung Galaxy watch will most likely support the “one dual terminal” function of the three operators at the same time, including Unicom’s hand hall, telecom business hall and mobile and multi signal. Users can activate the ESIM function of the watch through any one of the three networks.
It should be noted that at present, only a few smart watches, such as apple watch series 3, Huawei watch 2 pro and ticwatch invested by Google, support ESIM function, but they generally support Unicom and mobile, while telecom support is relatively common.
If Samsung Galaxy watch can obtain the support of three major operators at the same time, it has to be said that it will form a strong market competitiveness for this product. It seems that in order to save the Chinese market this time, Samsung has indeed made a lot of money.
Because previously, gear S2 series had already supported ESIM function overseas, but this condition was not available in China at that time. However, the gear S3, which has been released for two years, still fails to adapt to this function. If the galaxy watch can support this time, it will be a very strong selling point.
